Yes, I am bent but not broken!

It’s hard to be challenged on the status quo. I am impacted by the new “ban” on work visas (H-1B etc.). After staying in the USA for 8 years, helping in research and spin-off of a company which employs 10 Americans, valued over $50M and solves one of the critical national security issues that is related to rare-earth metal sourcing from China for magnets used in defense, aerospace, and industrial applications, working for a big name EV fighting climate change, working for a big materials manufacturing company where I manage multiple product lines and product development that involves keeping tens of Americans in their manufacturing jobs and support big names from Raytheon to Apple, I don’t think I deserve to be a part of the ban. If not anything, the tax I paid in the last 8 years, makes me disappointed to be treated like this. Like me, there are thousands of high-skilled immigrants who are impacted. There are hundreds of people who are separated from their families, like me. There are people who bought houses and cars and now feeling betrayed by the system. At least I can tell, if I would have known about this day eight years ago, I would have taken my talent somewhere else. The thing I love about America is its ecosystem to push for excellence and innovation. Nothing is crazy or impossible here. For an entrepreneur like me, the US ecosystem is a Candyland. Even in this hard time, many of the past investors and executives that I worked with and for are standing for me. Neither they nor I think this ban will help Americans to get tech jobs. If anything, it will help jobs to be shipped overseas!
